John Jones is the lead singer and melodeon player of English folk-rock band Oysterband, which he co-founded in the late 1970s and toured with for over four decades. The band released more than 20 albums, played major festivals across the UK, Europe and Canada, and twice collaborated with singer June Tabor on the acclaimed records Freedom and Rain (1990) and Ragged Kingdom (2011). Following Oysterband's farewell tour in 2025, Jones now performs as a trio with Ray Cooper and Al Scott under the banner The Song Goes On.
