KK 70 Years
Icelandic artist KK celebrates his 70th birthday with a concert featuring songs, guitar and stories from his long career.
KK - born Kristján Kristjánsson in 1956 in Minnesota to Icelandic parents - grew up in Iceland from the age of ten and spent five years busking across Europe before settling in Reykjavík in 1990. A blues and folk musician with more than 20 albums to his name, he has won the Icelandic Music Prize twice and is widely regarded as one of Iceland's most beloved singer-songwriters.
KK told in the podcast Gervigreindarklúbburinn about the story behind his famous song 'Kærleik og tíma' and about his attitude towards artificial intelligence in music production.
KK celebrated his 70th anniversary with a tour around Iceland and plans to continue concerts for the rest of 2026.
KK held a sold-out birthday concert at Háskólabíó in Reykjavík on March 26, 2026, where, among others, his sister Ellen Kristjánsdóttir and singer Bríet performed as guests.
