Richard Andersson NOR feat. Anne Efternøler & Simon Linnert Quartet
Double concert featuring two Nordic jazz ensembles: Richard Andersson NOR with trumpeter Anne Efternøler, and pianist Simon Linnert's new quartet with original material.
Matthías M.D. Hemstock is an Icelandic drummer and percussionist, trained at the Tónlistarskóli FÍH in Reykjavik and at Berklee College of Music in the US. He has spent decades at the core of the Icelandic jazz scene, performing with artists such as Tómas R. Einarsson, Óskar Guðjónsson and the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, while also teaching drums at FÍH. Since the mid-2010s he has been the regular drummer in Danish bassist Richard Andersson's Danish-Icelandic trio NOR, which has played over 100 concerts across Scandinavia.
Trioen NOR performed for the first time as a pure trio setup without extra guest musicians at Múlinn Jazzclub in Harpa, Reykjavik, in July.
NOR released the album 'Undo' together with guest guitarist Hilmar Jensson, which was later nominated for a Danish Music Award in the jazz category.
NOR has expanded its setup with trumpeter Anne Efternøler, who adds a new layer to the group's sound at concerts at Múlinn Jazzclub.
