Mattias Risberg Mining

About

Mattias Risberg's Mining is a Swedish jazz ensemble led by pianist and composer Mattias Risberg. The ensemble takes its name from the ore mines in the Bergslagen region of Sweden, where Risberg grew up, and their debut album was recorded live in the depths of a mine in the town of Stripa. The band's music draws on jazz and improvisation with traces of progressive rock and 20th-century art music, and it performs in line-ups ranging from a small group to a large ensemble of well-known Nordic improvisers.
