PRiMi: Membrane • PRiMi Lab #2 feat. Ayi Solomon
An experimental music evening featuring the collective Membrane and PRiMi Lab with Ayi Solomon, a legendary Ghanaian musician who has collaborated with world-class jazz and world-music artists.
Membrane is a Copenhagen-based experimental quintet whose five members come from Poland, Chile, Germany, Latvia and Slovakia: Michał Biel and Michaela Turcerová on saxophones, Tomás Gubbins on electric guitar, Darius Heid on prepared piano, and Jēkabs Rēders on percussion. The group works at the intersection of composition and collective improvisation, with sound, silence and attentive listening at the core of their practice. Turcerová and Biel are prominent figures in Copenhagen's experimental music scene, with releases on the Slovak label mappa and support from the Danish Arts Foundation.
Michaela Turcerová released the album šumum with Ensemble ŠUMUM - with Michał Biel and Jēkabs Rēders - on the Slovak label mappa, supported by the State Arts Foundation and Koda Kultur.
Darius Heid performed at Afgangsfestival 2025 in Copenhagen in several constellations, including with Jēkabs Rēders.
Michaela Turcerová released the solo album alene et on mappa - a work for modified alto saxophone, which was recognized as Album of the Year for Experimental Music at the Radio_Head Awards.
