About

Minik Thorleif Rosing (born 1957 in Nuuk) is a Greenlandic-Danish geologist and professor at the Globe Institute, University of Copenhagen, affiliated with the Natural History Museum of Denmark. He gained international recognition in 1999 after identifying traces of photosynthesis in the 3.7-3.8 billion-year-old Isua rock formations in Greenland, pushing back the known origin of life by hundreds of millions of years. More recently he has turned to climate science, founding Rock Flour Company to explore glacial rock flour from Greenland as a natural CO₂ sink and soil improver for tropical agriculture.
