MOLDE - Acoustic Folk Music in Kultursalen
Danish americana band MOLDE performs acoustic folk music with a shared microphone, creating an intimate sound. Two 45-minute sets of songs about nature, climate, and belonging.
MOLDE is an acoustic string band from Aarhus, founded by singer-songwriter and mandolinist Maria Molde after a period living among bluegrass musicians in New York. The five-piece performs entirely on acoustic strings, gathered around a single microphone - a setup drawn from traditional American bluegrass practice. Their debut album "Jorden Kalder" was released in August 2025 on GO Danish Folk Music, earning a review in Gaffa and radio play on Danish national station P5. The band has toured folk clubs and festivals across Denmark since their 2022 EP "Udefra".
Gaffa reviewed the debut album "Jorden Kalder" and described MOLDE as a mix of country, bluegrass, americana and Nordic folk.
"Jorden Kalder" was released as a CD in October 2025, after being available digitally and on vinyl since August.
MOLDE released the debut album "Jorden Kalder" on August 22, 2025 on GO Danish Folk Music - an album with 12 tracks on vinyl and digitally.
Three singles from the album - "Hvad Er Meningen", "Skyggerne Forsvinder" and "En Af Den Slags Dage" - were all well received by audiences and radio ahead of the album release.
MOLDE's debut EP "Udefra" was released in January 2022 and received airplay on P5; the single "Det er sent nu" ranked no. 1 on Radio Tønder's hit list for several weeks.
