Nagieb Khaja is a Danish journalist, documentary filmmaker and author of Afghan descent, born in Copenhagen in 1979. For more than two decades he has reported from conflict zones in Afghanistan, Syria and Israel-Palestine for outlets including BBC, Al Jazeera English, Vice and The Guardian - and is among the very few Western journalists to have gained access to leaders within groups such as Al-Qaeda and the Taliban. He won the Cavling Prize in 2021 alongside colleagues from Ekstra Bladet for their reporting on Danish children held in Syrian prison camps. In 2025 he wrapped filming on his fiction debut 'Løvehjerte', due in Danish cinemas in October 2026.
