Nektar
Progressive rock band Nektar performs live at Rust.
Nektar is an English progressive rock band formed in Hamburg in 1969 by guitarist Roye Albrighton, keyboardist Allan "Taff" Freeman, bassist Derek "Mo" Moore, and drummer Ron Howden. Blending space-rock improvisation, concept albums, and an elaborate light show, they became cult figures in the 1970s prog scene and broke into the US Top 20 with "Remember the Future" (1973). The band has continued through numerous line-up changes; their 2024 album "Mission to Mars" was the first recorded without founding drummer Ron Howden, who died in September 2023.
Nektar released the album "Mission to Mars" on August 30, 2024 - the first in a planned trilogy and the first studio album without founder Ron Howden.
Founding drummer Ron Howden died on September 29, 2023 after a cancer illness; Jay Dittamo took over the position behind the drums.
The band released the live release "Journey to the Other Side - Live at The Dunellen Theatre" as a 2CD/Blu-ray set of over 2.5 hours.
Nektar returned to the stage with the "Vinyl Sides Live" tour, which featured classic album sides as well as the 2020 album "The Other Side".
The band was revived with a new US-based lineup and debuted at the ProgStock festival in October 2019 after the death of founder Roye Albrighton in 2016.
