About

Nicolai Kornerup (born 1981 in Copenhagen) is a Danish pianist, accordionist, composer and producer whose work spans classical music, jazz and folk. His compositions move between Nordic melancholic impressionism and Eastern European rhythms, and he has released four solo albums - most recently with a piano trio. He won the Carl Prize for Composer of the Year in 2018 and plays accordion and writes for the klezmer-jazz ensemble Mames Babegenush, which has performed at Carnegie Hall and Roskilde Festival. He has also written orchestral music for the DR Big Band and Copenhagen Phil, and collaborated with artists including Kwamie Liv, Soleima and Thomas Dybdahl.
