Niels Præstholm (born 1958) is a Danish double bassist and composer who trained at the Rhythmic Music Conservatorium in Copenhagen under Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen. Before turning 25 he had already performed with jazz figures including Clark Terry, Kenny Drew, Lee Konitz and Sahib Shihab, and has since toured across Scandinavia, Europe, the US and the Caribbean. He founded the groups Embla and Embla Nordic Project, and is now a central figure in the music scene of Sønderborg, where he teaches and leads ensembles including Art Ensemble Syd and Den Sønderjyske Hustrio.
