Peter Laugesen (born 5 March 1942 in Copenhagen) is one of the most distinctive voices in Danish poetry since the 1960s. With more than 50 collections to his name - from his debut Landskab (1967) to Morgensange (2025) - he has consistently pursued what he calls 'impure' poetry, drawing on the American beat tradition, surrealism and Zen Buddhism. He is also a playwright, translator and art critic, and his collaborations with jazz musicians are a recurring thread throughout his work. He has been a member of the Danish Academy since 1997.
Peter Laugesen performs in September 2026 as special guest in a new quartet collaboration with guitarist Jakob Bro, saxophonist Jesper Zeuthen and drummer Veslemøy Narvesen at five Danish venues.
