Rasmus Ole Lyberth was born on 21 August 1951 in Maniitsoq and grew up in Nuuk. A singer, songwriter, guitarist and actor, he has been one of the most prominent voices in Greenlandic music since the 1970s. He sings exclusively in Greenlandic, yet his music has drawn audiences across Europe and North America - including a performance at the BBC Proms in Royal Albert Hall in 2011. He trained as an actor at Tuukkaq Teatret and was appointed Knight of the Order of Dannebrog in 2000.
