Danish band Sømændene performs at Skraaen in Aalborg.
Sømændene (formerly De Glade Sømænd) are an eight-piece band from Karrebæksminde who have kept Danish sea shanty tradition alive since the early 2000s, blending folk, rock and bluegrass with violin, banjo and accordion. Their 2008 album Søforklaringer went platinum in Denmark, and in 2012 they won the Danish Music Awards Folk prize for Live Act of the Year. Known for high-energy, sing-along shows, they are a fixture on the Danish festival circuit.
Sømændene are ready for another season in 2026 with planned concerts including at Amager Bio in Copenhagen (31 October) and Skråen in Aalborg (30 October).
Sømændene played a sold-out bodega party at Roskilde Congress Center on 7 November 2025.
Sømændene are confirmed on the poster for Samsø Festival 2026 as one of nine Danish names.
After a busy 2025 on Danish festival grounds and venues, the band has cemented itself as one of the country's most beloved live orchestras.
