About

Sorten Muld is a Danish folktronica ensemble founded in Aarhus in 1995 by Ulla Bendixen, Martin Ottosen and Henrik Munch. Their 1997 debut album Mark II - which set medieval ballads and Nordic folk songs against electronic production ranging from trip-hop to techno - won two Danish Grammys and sold over 50,000 copies across Scandinavia and the US. After a comeback in 2011, the group released Mark IV - Lånt tid in 2021, broadening their sound with Middle Eastern instruments and influences from jazz and contemporary Danish poetry.
