Stine Pilgaard (born 1984 near Aarhus) is a Danish author who trained at the Danish Writers' Academy and the University of Copenhagen. She writes sharp, self-deprecating comedy rooted in everyday social life - folk high schools, housing cooperatives, suburban playgrounds. Her third novel, Metres per Second (2020), sold over 150,000 copies in Denmark, won the Golden Laurels and the Weekendavisen Literature Prize, and was adapted into a film by Hella Joof in 2023. Her fourth novel, Ti vilde heste, appeared in September 2026.
Stine Pilgaard's fourth novel Ten Wild Horses was released on September 10, 2026 by the publisher Gutkind and received positive reviews in Danish media.
Information praised Ten Wild Horses and described Pilgaard's four novels as 'exceptionally successful' written about four life stages between the twenties and late thirties.
Soundvenue reviewed Ten Wild Horses and highlighted that Pilgaard 'continues where she left off and acts as a loving and sassy mirror for all small children parents' raging inner self'.
Hella Joof's film adaptation of Meter per Second had its cinema premiere on February 2, 2023 and set a record in ticket sales that year.
Stine Pilgaard received Weekendavisen's Literature Prize 2021 for the novel Meter per Second.
