About

Tea Torbenfeldt Bengtsson is a Danish sociologist and professor at the Department of Sociology and Social Work at Aalborg University, a position she took up in February 2024. She also holds a professorship (MSO) at VIVE, the Danish Centre for Social Science Research, and earned her PhD from the University of Copenhagen. Her work centres on children and young people in vulnerable situations - examining how they navigate welfare institutions, the justice system and psychiatry, and what risk-taking behaviour means for their transition to adulthood. She conducts primarily ethnographic research, including extended fieldwork in secure youth detention facilities.
