Vanir is a Danish melodic death metal band from Kolding, active since 2009. The band pairs heavy, crushing riffs with lyrics drawn from the Viking age, European war history and modern tragedies, and has released eight studio albums, most recently "Wyrd" (2026) following "Epitome" (2024) and "Allfather" (2019). Widely seen as one of Denmark's leading Viking-themed melodic death metal acts, Vanir plays regularly at Danish venues such as Studenterhuset and Gimle.
Vanir released their eighth studio album "Wyrd" on April 3, 2026 via Mighty Music.
The band released "Never Surrender", the first single from "Wyrd", inspired by the Battle of Vienna in 1683.
Vanir performed a concert at Gimle in Roskilde together with Crocell on May 30, 2026.
A concert with Vanir and Crocell is planned at Studenterhuset in Copenhagen on Sunday, October 4, 2026.
