Medborgerhuset in Taastrup occupies the former Lipperts Hotel on Taastrup Hovedgade - a building saved from demolition in the late 1970s by a local grassroots campaign. It opened as a community cultural centre on 1 June 1984 and, after a major renovation, reopened in September 2018. The house is home to a wide range of associations, Billedskolen runs art workshops on the premises, and the programme includes concerts, exhibitions and other cultural events. Café Lipperts serves as the social hub of the building.
