National Flag Day for Denmark's Deployed Personnel
Sønderborg Municipality honours Denmark's deployed personnel and their families with a formal ceremony featuring speeches, music, and a wreath-laying at the memorial.
Rådhustorvet is the central square of Sønderborg, named after the town hall that has stood here since the 16th century. The current town hall was built in 1932-33 and is considered a key work of Danish neoclassicism. The square connects several of the old town's main streets, including Perlegade to the north and Østergade to the east. An earlier town hall on the site was destroyed during the Prussian bombardment of 1864.
