National Flag Day for Denmark's Deployed Personnel
Rådhustorvet, Sønderborg, Sønderborg
On Saturday, September 5, Sønderborg Municipality gathers at Rådhustorvet to mark Denmark's National Flag Day. The day honours those who have served abroad in Denmark's service and their families, who share the burden of Denmark's international engagement. The municipality has held this commemoration annually since 2009.
The programme begins with assembly at 13:30, followed by the ceremony at 14:00. Municipal director Tim Hansen welcomes attendees, and Green Forest Pipe Band provides musical performances. Mayor Erik Lauritzen delivers a speech, and children's medals are presented. Retired Colonel Keller Nielsen, former commander of Haderslev Barracks, also speaks. The ceremony concludes with a wreath-laying at the memorial stone and closing remarks from municipal director Tim Hansen.
