Art critic Kinna Poulsen delivers a lecture on the development of Faroese contemporary art in the 21st century. The lecture is based on her book "At Eye Level: On 21st Century Contemporary Faroese Art" (Sprotin, 2026), and covers pivotal moments and both established and emerging artists who have shaped the Faroese art scene.
Kinna Poulsen (b. 1968) holds a degree in Danish and art history and works as a lecturer, author, critic, and curator. Since the mid-1990s, she has engaged deeply with the Faroese art scene - both in the Faroe Islands and internationally. She received the 15th of June Foundation's Critic Prize in 2024 and the M. A. Jacobsen Faroese Cultural Prize for the Faroese edition of the book, "Í eygnahædd".
The book opens with an essay on 21st-century social and cultural events, followed by portraits of artistic pioneers and analysis of works by more than fifty artists. It concludes with an afterword on significant movements of the era. The book is available for purchase at the event.
The lecture is in Danish and runs approximately 60 minutes, followed by questions from the audience - the entire event is expected to last about 80 minutes.
