Selma Lagerlöf's literary work ranges from folk tales and legends to autobiographical memoirs, with human life, faith, and the supernatural as recurring themes. Librarian Marianna Finnsdóttir reads two of her Christmas legends aloud on the stage at Hvidovre Main Library.

On December 8th, she reads 'The Stone in the Lake' - a legend about charity, compassion, and hope.

On December 15th, she reads 'The Legend of the Christmas Roses' - about a forest that transforms into a garden every Christmas night.

Hvidovre Hovedbibliotek is the main public library of Hvidovre Municipality, situated on Hvidovrevej close to the town hall. The building houses study spaces, meeting rooms, a children's section and a café alongside its collections of books, e-books and newspapers. A regular programme of author evenings, reading clubs and cultural workshops runs throughout the year. As an open library, the building is accessible every day from 07:00 to 23:00, with staff on hand during regular opening hours.
