Jytte Hilden - A Political Icon Speaks Out — Hvidovre Hovedbibliotek, Hvidovre

Former Social Democratic culture minister Jytte Hilden and author Puk Qvortrup have written the conversation book "I Never Apologize" (2026). The book spans from an anecdote about cycling shorts in 1993 to Hilden's first year as a member of parliament in 1979 - when she had to endure being touched on the thigh by male politicians - through to the MeToo movement in 2020.

For the evening, Jytte Hilden and Puk Qvortrup meet with the library's literature facilitator Rolf Sparre Johansson for a conversation about Hilden's life and career, and the struggle for women's rights across generations.

Hvidovre Hovedbibliotek is the main public library of Hvidovre Municipality, situated on Hvidovrevej close to the town hall. The building houses study spaces, meeting rooms, a children's section and a café alongside its collections of books, e-books and newspapers. A regular programme of author evenings, reading clubs and cultural workshops runs throughout the year. As an open library, the building is accessible every day from 07:00 to 23:00, with staff on hand during regular opening hours.
