Ditte Dahl Knudsen - On the Anatomy of Eating Disorders
Paradigmeskiftet, Aarhus · 0–100 kr. · ≈ 13 €
In this personal lecture, Ditte Dahl Knudsen shares her more than 13-year struggle with anorexia, anxiety, and low self-worth. She begins with her life as an elite dancer, the encounter with performance pressure and perfectionism, and takes listeners through several serious encounters with psychiatry, treatment programmes in Aarhus and Aalborg, and three years in residential care.
The lecture focuses on the major differences in treatment and what it means to be met as a human being rather than a diagnosis. Ditte shares her knowledge of relapse, control, shame, and hope - and the role that relationships, loved ones, and surroundings can play.
The result is an honest insight into eating disorders from the inside: what happens behind the facade, behind the control, and behind the explanations the outside world often tries to impose.
