Oyster Hunting on Zealand 20/3 — Isefjord, Holbæk

Join a guided tour hunting wild oysters in Isefjord at low tide - directly on the seabed, among seaweed and mussels, as the water recedes.

The oysters we find are invasive Pacific oysters (Magallana gigas), the same species served in restaurants worldwide, but the Danish sea environment gives them a distinctive flavour. Today's catch depends on wind and weather. The guide brings champagne, various toppings, and French oysters so you can taste the two side by side.

Included in the tour:
- Oyster hunting with a professional guide
- Oyster-opening course
- Wild Danish oysters (today's catch eaten together)
- 1 glass of champagne

Bring: Waders or long rubber boots, practical clothing, gloves (oysters are sharp and the water is cold), bucket/bag/net, sunglasses, oyster knife and possibly a fishing permit if you want to use equipment. Waders are not required, but recommended. A limited number of waders can be rented for 100 kr. - see ticket add-ons.

Programme: From the car park we walk approximately 15-20 minutes through forest and beach to the oyster area. There is a base where you can leave your things and change into waders. After a brief introduction we head out into the fjord together and hunt for about 1-1.5 hours before the tide turns. Back at the base we have an oyster-opening course, and we eat today's catch with champagne on the beach.

Meeting point: The exact location is sent upon booking. The site is close to Holbæk with parking at the meeting point.
