Author Evening with Charlotte Weitze

Charlotte Weitze writes in the borderland between the magical and the realistic, exploring the relationship between humans and nature. At this author evening, she discusses her work with particular focus on her latest novel, Wolf's Milk.

The novel follows two timelines. In 2040, Inga has moved into her grandmother's house in Tværmose in a Jylland covered by forest. Her partner monitors the region's wolf population, and Inga was herself an author - until artificial intelligence took over the stories. In 1872, the folklore collector Evald Tang Kristensen travels from farm to farm in the same area to record fairy tales and songs from a bygone era. He visits Ane Povlsdatter, who has many wolf stories to tell - but he never gets to hear the end of one of them before she dies.

Ane lived in the house that is now Inga's. And at full moon, an animal prowls around and scratches at Inga's door - an animal that Evald knows all too well and yet doesn't really want to acknowledge.
