Hyldemor: Meet the Darkness — Høng Bibliotek, Høng

Maria Lisette Jacobsen - better known as "Hyldemor" from Hyldemors Have - gives a lecture on winter darkness and how we can meet it as a friend and guide. Using nature's cycles as her starting point, she explores how we can reconnect with the great cycle of life and create more harmony in everyday life.

According to Hyldemor, winter's darkness is an ancient, primordial darkness that sings to our soul about moving slowly, resting and recovering - but it also holds creative power and the realm of myths. In the industrialized world, we are used to turning on more lights and continuing at the same pace, but this is unnatural for our bodies. If we listen instead to nature's wisdom, the sun's light and the night's darkness become guides toward peace and renewal.

Maria Lisette Jacobsen is a trained archaeologist with a background in the museum sector and became known as the Nordic shaman "Hyldemor" from the DR2 documentary 'The Witch, the Heathen and the Eldermother'. She now runs the course business and online universe Hyldemors Have, where she teaches herbal medicine and Nordic nature spirituality through courses, workshops and lectures across the country.
