Bat Night 2026 — Søgaard Skov, Aabenraa
Free entry

Join WWF and the Danish Bat Society for a guided bat-listening tour in Søgaard Forest, a hotspot for bat activity in southern Jutland. Learn about the 17 bat species found in Denmark and the conservation efforts protecting them.

The evening begins with a presentation about the different bat species in the area, their biology, and the work of the Danish Bat Society. You'll then venture into the forest at dusk with bat detectors to listen for, and possibly see, the local bat population. Using the latest listening equipment, you'll hear the bats' distinctive echolocation calls. Weather permitting, thermal imaging will allow you to watch them fly over the lake.

This event marks the international "Bat Night" celebration held worldwide on August 24. The tour is free and requires no advance booking.
