Morning Art: The Young Wild Ones: Punk, Politics and Pop Culture

Inspired by both German Neo-Expressionism and the energy of punk, the works of the Young Wild Ones reflected the cultural and social currents of the late 1970s and early 1980s. This lecture explores how the Young Wild Ones engaged with social and political issues in their art, and how popular culture played a vital role in their work - both aesthetically and thematically. The presentation will feature works by artists such as Helmut Middendorf, Claus Carstensen, Erik A. Frandsen, Inge Ellegaard and other artists well represented in ARoS's collection, whose paintings marked a significant shift in the Danish art scene.

The 'Morning Art' lecture series is presented by ARoS's education assistant Martin Bjerg Dahl, a student and bachelor's graduate in Aesthetics and Culture with a specialization in art history. Martin has extensive experience in art historical education, including lectures.
