Masterclass - Abstract Art: Paul Klee and Vasilij Kandinsky

Vasilij Kandinsky (1866-1944) grew up in Russia and was strongly inspired by music - its ability to depict and convey emotional states. He believed that forms and colours could do the same. Paul Klee (1879-1940) was Swiss and deeply engaged with colour; his motifs are often dreamlike and, like Kandinsky's, aim to influence the viewer emotionally without a recognizable subject.

The masterclass is led by ARoS' education assistant Martin Bjerg Dahl, a student of aesthetics and culture with a focus on art history, with extensive experience in art-historical education and lectures.
