Walks and Thinking Breaks - On Small Talk
Borup Bibliotek, Borup · Free
Traveture og Tænkepauser is a walking tour series where books from Aarhus University Press's Tænkepauser series set the theme. This time it's "Smalltalk" by communication researcher Birte Asmuss from Aarhus University.
The book explores the brief conversations that seem insignificant - but actually matter a great deal. Weather and wind pave the way for feelings and attitudes; loose and tight bonds create understanding and friendship. Small talk gives doctors insight into their patients' wellbeing, connects neighbours across the fence, and eases awkward customer encounters. And when we chat with a stranger, it turns out that our happiness tends to flourish.
The walk is approximately 4 km and lasts about 2 hours - the route ends at the library. It takes place regardless of weather, so dress according to the forecast.
"Smalltalk" can be borrowed from the library or via the e-library as an e-book or audiobook.
