Lecture on Seaweed — Billund Bibliotek, Billund
Free entry

Beneath the ocean's surface, seaweed forms underwater forests that are crucial for marine life and climate. New research shows that seaweed can also help address future challenges in health, food, and the environment.

Seaweed forests along coastlines function as the ocean's answer to forests on land: they create feeding grounds and shelter for fish and small animals, absorb nutrients and CO2, produce oxygen, and counteract ocean acidification.

The lecture examines what seaweed and algae actually are, how they differ from plants and animals, and how they are cultivated both in the sea and on land. There is also a focus on the sustainable solutions seaweed can contribute to climate, biodiversity, and future food sources. At the end, there will be an opportunity to taste seaweed.

The event is free and requires no registration. Location: M1.
