Caktus is a Danish jazz ensemble with an unusual line-up: two alto saxophones, cello, double bass, and drums. The group was formed in 2017 and has since performed over 70 concerts in the Nordic region, with their music also performed by DR Bigbandet.
Their debut album 'Under Solen' received a Steppeulv nomination for 'Composer of the Year', a nomination for 'Album of the Year' at Danish Music Awards Jazz 2021, and was featured on both Passive/Aggressive's and Dagbladet Information's year-end lists of the 20 best Danish releases in 2020. Their second album 'Flimrende' was hailed by critics as a masterpiece. Caktus now presents 'Øyeblikk', recorded in collaboration with Norwegian bigband OJKOS and released on 29 May on Sonic Transmission Records.
