Why Do We Love to Be Scared for Fun?

What actually happens in us when we voluntarily seek out fear? Maria Månson explores recreational fear in film and television - from heart-stopping suspense to existential chills - with particular focus on the role of sound and the many forms of fear. Along the way, she draws on iconic examples from Psycho to A Quiet Place.

Månson shows clips from films, series and music and connects them to literature about the uncanny. She also discusses why watching horror films is actually healthy for the brain.

The event is a prelude to Halloween and takes place in the Fællesskabet room at Magion Library in Grindsted.
