Quantum Computers // Livestream from Aarhus University

The world of atoms and molecules is governed by the laws of quantum physics - laws that radically break with everyday logic. Atomic particles can seemingly exist in multiple places at once, and measurements on them always yield random results. Quantum physics shook physicists when it emerged in the early 20th century, but its predictions have since been confirmed with great precision in both physics and chemistry.

This lecture introduces quantum physics and the technologies it has made possible - including quantum computers, which use atomic quantum states to perform calculations on many numbers simultaneously. You will learn how far we have come in building them and what they will be able to do when fully functional. Since the 1990s, large sums have been invested in this race, both in Denmark and internationally.

The lecture is part of Aarhus University's series "Public Lectures in Natural Science" and is livestreamed to Byens Bio in Jelling. Doors open at 18:45, and the stream starts at 19:00.
