Seaweed

Seaweed - lecture on algae and climate: Tuesday 17 November 2026, 19:00–21:00, Assens Bibliotek, Assens. Admission is free.

Seaweed is not a plant but an alga - and there is a big difference. This lecture explores what seaweed and algae actually are, how they differ from plants and animals, and how they are cultivated both at sea and on land. You will also learn about the sustainable possibilities seaweed holds for the future in terms of climate, biodiversity, and food - and there will be taste samples of seaweed's flavour universe.

The lecture is livestreamed from Aarhus University and shown free of charge at Assens Library, Kulturkajen hall. Registration is required and takes place on the website. Further information can be found at ofn.au.dk.
