Sing for Unity - Singing for Peace on UN International Peace Day
Hovedbiblioteket i Aalborg, Aalborg · free
Sing for Unity takes place on the UN's International Peace Day, featuring Nordjysk Vokalensemble as the main choir. Founded in 2015, the ensemble consists primarily of organists, church singers, and experienced choral singers from across North Jutland. Normally conducted by Kristian Melchior, the choir will be led today by Hanne Møller, who directs the programme and leads the communal singing. The programme includes "What a Wonderful World" and other songs about peace and community, including songs from Højskolesangbogen.
Finn Reske-Nielsen, chairman of the UN Association in Aalborg, shares stories from his nearly 40 years with the UN (1977-2013) - about the organization's role in peace and security, human rights, and sustainable development.
Following the concert and communal singing, art historian Anne-Lise Schou takes participants on a short walk to see murals near Hovedbiblioteket.
The event is free and takes place in the Arkaden room.
