IN PROCESS: AXIS — Foreningen Thoravej 29, Copenhagen

IN PROCESS: AXIS is a residency where Benson A'KUYIE and Dylan "HUNTERCHEE" Greene explore movement, live sound, and improvisation through the dance style Krump. The hips are central to their work - a body part that carries weight, creates rhythm, and connects the dancer to both ancestral and contemporary movement expressions.

When men move their hips visibly and with intention, it often meets discomfort or hostility. The residency gives A'KUYIE and Greene time to investigate what is at stake in that reaction: what is being protected, and what is feared, when a male body takes on a movement coded as feminine, sexual, or "inappropriate".

A'KUYIE works at the intersection of Krump, Akan dance traditions, and live-looping within an Afro-futuristic and queer-affirming movement language. Greene brings percussion from Western classical music and neoclassicism to Ghanaian Ashanti Kete drumming, shaped by collaborations across North America, Europe, and Africa. Together they build a practice where percussion, voice, looping technology, and body affect each other in real time - and where rhythm and movement are treated as one shared, improvisational language.
