Introduction to Tabletop Roleplaying: Tuesday 17 November 2026, 17:30–19:30, Vesterbro Bibliotek og Kulturhus, Copenhagen. Admission is free.
Morten and Troels from Dicework show how tabletop roleplaying works. You sit around a table with friends or family, roll dice, and collectively decide how the story unfolds. All you need is paper, dice, and a bit of wild imagination - no screens or electricity required.
Roleplaying has grown in popularity in recent years, but it can be hard to know how to get started, especially in Danish. Dragons and Demons is a perfect place to begin. It's the Danish version of Dragonbane, based on the classic Swedish roleplaying game Drakar och Demoner. The rules are simple enough for new players, families with children, and experienced adventurers alike.
On the programme:
• An explanation of what roleplaying is and how a game unfolds
• A walkthrough of what you need, such as dice and rules
• A short adventure we play together
The event is aimed at children from 10 years and up, but Troels and Morten answer questions from both children and adults. You need no experience, only the desire to play.
An adventure might begin like this. Troels, the game master, rolls the dice and leans over the table:
"The torches flicker. The dragon roars so loudly the cliff walls shake, and something black and hissing crawls up from the depths before you. You are trapped between demons on one side and a dragon on the other.
The warriors stand side by side with swords drawn, and Elvira, your wizard, can feel magic tingling in her fingertips. But where is Raven Silverfingers? The thief who followed you from the tavern and promised to know a secret way out of the mountain has vanished. So has your purse of gold."
The table falls silent. Elvira's player frantically flips through her list of spells, and another reaches for the dice. The game master smiles and asks: "What do you do?"
This event is part of Game On, a week-long gaming festival about game universes, play, togetherness, and creativity. You can game on computers and play board games. The festival takes place this year at Kildevæld Kulturcenter, Grøndal Multicenter, and Kulturstationen Vanl.
