Chopper

Chopper is the project of Danish artist Jonatan K. Magnussen - a tragic pop idol caught between glamour and decay, with music drawing on post-punk, industrial glam, and disco noir.

On June 27, Chopper closes the Gehenna stage at the festival. His latest release, New Body, marks an escalation in scale and transgression, accompanied by a music video that unfolds Chopper's fever-dream universe. Visually explosive and unsettling, like a distorted childhood memory, it explores pushing identity construction to its breaking point.

"Growing up on MTV, I was obsessed with the Hollywood lifestyle and the people on the screen who lived it," says Chopper. "Sex, money, murder, all of it. I wasn't part of that world, I was just watching it. I wanted to give up everything to become just that. New Body is about crossing that line. About stepping into that version of yourself, for real."
