Karsten Skovgård Trio - Album Release

"While Kim Was Sleeping" - music, stories and presence

Karsten Skovgaard was Kim Larsen's guitarist and bandleader for 25 years. During those years on the road, when Kim slept, he wrote melodies in the quiet hours - and it is precisely this music that now forms the basis for this album release concert. The trio consists of Karsten Skovgaard, bassist Jesper Findshøj, and guitarist Kevin Monie.

The title came about spontaneously when Kevin one evening over a beer at Carlsens Kvarter heard one of Skovgaard's melodies and asked: "Is that what you wrote while Kim was sleeping?" That question set everything in motion.

The programme alternates between new arrangements of Kim Larsen classics such as "Joanna" and "Pianomand" and Skovgaard's own melodies, created during breaks on the road - all tied together by anecdotes and stories from the years on the road.
