Sewing Circle in Them - Boomerang Bags — Toftebjerg-Them Bibliotek & Medborgerhus, Them
Free entry

Every Monday, a group of volunteers gathers at the libraries in Them and Silkeborg to sew sustainable fabric bags from surplus and recycled materials. The bags have replaced the library's plastic bags and function as shared bags: you take a bag with you for your books and return it the next time you visit the library. The concept is known internationally as Boomerang Bags and originated in Australia.

You don't need to be an experienced seamstress - there are templates and expert guidance, and most people find it relatively easy to get started. You're welcome to bring your own sewing machine, but it's not required. Participation is voluntary, and you don't need to come every time.

Recycled fabric and straps for the bags have been donated by local businesses, including Mascot, Dacapo Stainless, and HMT.

Location: the café.
