Leif Holmstrand: Ruin Recalled
Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus · Free
Do you have things lying around that you no longer use, yet cannot let go of? What do they tell about you - and what happens to a memory when it is shared with strangers?
These are the questions that drive Ruin Recalled, a collaborative weaving created by Leif Holmstrand. Through the festival Live Art for Børn, the work grows on Udsigten at DOKK1 as visitors weave their personal objects into it. All ages are welcome - children, young people, adults and elderly. Bring something connected to a person, an event or a period in your life, and be prepared to leave it in the work. Simply show up on the days when Holmstrand is present.
Leif Holmstrand is an artist, writer and musician based in Malmö. Their work combines traditional craftsmanship with horror, burlesque and queer culture, circling themes of the body, identity and mental health - rooted in queer historiography and non-heteronormative subcultural expressions.
