The Magic of Reading and Writing - Where Literature and Psychology Meet
Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus · 50 kr. · ≈ 7 €
Psychological research shows that reading and writing can reduce stress, sharpen analytical thinking, expand self-understanding, and strengthen empathy. The blank page opens up fictional worlds and what might be called a 'verbal cremation' of difficult experiences - literature as a tool for processing what is hard to say directly.
Authorized clinical psychologist and health psychology specialist Karen Margrethe Schifter Kirketerp leads the workshop, focusing on the psychological mechanisms behind reading and writing fiction. The programme alternates between short talks and practical exercises and is open to everyone interested in words and text.
The workshop takes place in Meeting Room U1 at Aarhus Main Library and is part of the Folk University's knowledge festival Hearts & Minds. A parallel workshop is also held from 14:30-15:30.
