Fælles Frø Seed Bank — Kvarterhuset, Copenhagen
Free entry

The seed bank has reopened after its summer break and is ready to receive seeds harvested from spring plantings. You'll find it on the balcony of Kvarterhuset's first floor.

In spring, you could collect native seeds - species that have been part of Danish nature for thousands of years, carefully selected to support the city's insects, bees, and people. These seeds were then planted in ditches, pavement cracks, and perhaps in your own garden or balcony box. When the plants have finished flowering and begin to wilt, it's time to harvest the new seeds and deposit them in the seed bank so everyone can collect again next spring.

Bring your harvested seeds in a container or jar. In the seed bank you'll find labels where you can write what seeds the jar contains.

Fælles Frø has five seed banks in total on Amager: Kulturhuset Islands Brygge, Kvarterhuset, Børnekulturhus Ama'r, Solvang Library, Bibliotekshuset on Rodosvej, and at Naturværkstedet Kløvermarken. The project is a collaboration between the association TinkerTank, Sundby Library, Kvarterhuset, Kulturhuset Islands Brygge, and Børnekulturhus Ama'r, and is supported by Copenhagen Municipality's Biodiversity Fund.
