Description was written before the event

Crossing Borders invites you to an evening of storytelling and film with Kenyan filmmaker and cultural entrepreneur Jinna Mutune Odede. The evening concludes with a meal served by Sasaa.

Jinna Mutune Odede is a director, producer, author, and founder of Pegg Entertainment in Nairobi. For nearly two decades, she has used film, documentary, theatre, and digital campaigns to present new perspectives on Africa. Her work has been featured on platforms such as UNESCO, Yale, Berlin, and USC California, and moves at the intersection of film, gender, and culture.

The evening also presents the short film Cocoa Dreams. Set in Muhoroni, Kenya, it follows Jaber - a nuclear physicist who returns home after her grandmother's death to inherit the family sugar plantation. Her plan to convert it to cocoa farming collides with unresolved family conflicts, forcing her to reckon with what it truly means to inherit both land and the past.
