Author Lecture: Red Gate

The novel 'Red Gate' is set during a summer in the 1980s at the Røde Port leisure collective on Langeland. As the Cold War draws to a close, the adults in the collective dream big and party late - while a group of children drift through drowsy days and restless nights on the edge of their teenage years. Decades later, three childhood friends must reunite and become each other's anchor against free fall.

The book explores childhood, belonging and identity, long friendships, drinking, loss and longing. Berlingske called it "exceptionally assured and powerful".

Nanna Holm (born 1977) quit her steady job five years ago to write. She holds a cand.mag. in rhetoric from the University of Copenhagen and will speak at this lecture about 'Red Gate', her own story, and her path to becoming an author.
