Elizabeth Wathuti - Climate Star from Kenya

Elizabeth Wathuti is one of Africa's most prominent climate voices. She opened COP26 in Glasgow with an appeal to world leaders to "open their hearts", and has spent over a decade working on climate and environmental issues in Kenya, where she leads the Green Generation Initiative. In 2025, Time Magazine recognized her as one of the 100 most influential climate advocates in the world.

At this event, she will speak about the consequences of climate change in Africa and her work engaging young people in the climate movement. She will be interviewed by Søren Warburg, Senior Movement Specialist at Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke, who will also discuss his work with social movements on the African continent - including the youth generations emerging and demanding a better life.
