Nauja Lynge: Great Power Politics in the Arctic

Nauja Lynge is a Greenlandic-Danish author, lecturer, and public commentator who has previously chaired the Association of the Realm. Here she examines the geopolitical forces at play in the Arctic - and what they mean for the relationship between Greenland and Denmark.

The lecture maps how major powers compete for underground resources, Arctic shipping routes, and military influence behind a facade of "friendship" and "business development". Lynge walks through concrete examples: the US missile shield, China's uranium mining, and Russia's position after the war in Ukraine. She also sheds light on how history continues to shape the shared space - and why Greenland's geographical location makes the region a potential flashpoint.

There will be plenty of time for questions throughout. Lynge is the author of, among other works, Ivalu's Color (2017) and Jeg er Nauja (2018).
